If you watched the 2005 anime Trinity Blood, you must have noticed the wonderful
Opening song.
Well, that song, called Dress, was made (back in 1993 already) and performed
by Buck-Tick.
Over the years Buck-Tick has provided more anime shows with Opening and Ending songs and this page enables you
to hear those songs.
Nightwalker
In 2000 the anime Nightwalker used the Buck-Tick song Gessekai for its opening theme. A show that tells
the story of vampire Shido and his ´detective agency´. The 12 episodes long series had, more often than not, inferior animation
but it seemed to hold it´s ground amongst it´s dedicated fans and it managed to intrigue them all the same.
Sadly it didn't for me and the only positive thing for me about this show was the opening song.
The version I decided to put up here is a live performance of this gorgeous song, which doesn't really come
to life in the short OP of the anime. Listen to the complete version and tell me you didn't like it better.
Trinity Blood
In 2005 Gonzo Digimation released Trinity Blood. A 26 episodes series evolving around father
Abel Nightroad and his missions from the Chancery (Vatican) in Rome. Again the theme of this series were Vampires, coincidence
or not, it does help Sakurai's vampire-ry rep.
Even though I love the animation, the fact that it took an eternity to get to the real plot,
had no depth for a lot of the characters and didn't really live up to it's own potential, makes this series not all too interesting
to me. Add to that the fact that I much more prefer the original art work from Shibamoto, which is exceptional and highly
detailed, and you'll see why you'll have to see this series for yourself and not trust me as a reviewer (because I'm
doing a really sucky job at that!).
They chose Buck-Tick's gorgeous song Dress as the Opening song, and it was remastered as
Dress: Bloody Trinity mix and re-released on CD single in 2005.
xxxHolic!
In 2006 came Clamp's latest creation xxxHolic!. A series you definitely have to get used to art wise. Clamp
has always had a love for overly lang limbs, but this one takes it to a new level. In many ways the animation is lovely and
certainly new and refreshing but I that also means it's not for everyone to love. Personally I find the lack of shading disturbing,
but that's just me.
Controversy has been high for this show. Some praise it, some trash it, there's not much room in between.
I've only seen the first episode and, although it did intrigue me enough to finish the episode, it didn't fascinate me enough
to download the entire series.
During the second half of the season they changed Ending theme's and from episode 14 on Buck-Tick's Kagerou
was used. Kagerou also meant the first new single release of the band since the last Juusankai wa Gekkou album from 2005.
The single, released in 2006, came in several different versions.
The song put on this website was taken from my special edition CD/DVD.
New song Utsusemi graced all three versions as a 'side B'.
